My interests and passion for pharmacy is growing everyday!! I did struggle alot when i first started my pharmacy esp in the dispensing practical. The good new is that there is not so much of dispensing drugs in 3rd year pharmacy!!
Instead i got the chance to counsel the patients and have placement in various places including the rural areas. However, counseling patients is not an easy task as there are thousands of patients on multiple drugs and each of the drug is unique and will interact with each other tremendously. And we as the pharmacists have to check every single drugs and assume that our patients dont know anything about the drug at all so that most detailed info can be given to them. Not forgetting that we have to deal with the doctors who may had carelessly prescribed a wrong drug. So pharmacist's burden is really huge ya!!
In last week's lecture, my favourite lecturer, Luke showed us a statistic and below are some of the amazing facts:
- On average there are 170 prescriptions per pharmacy per day!! (so now you know how much a pharmacy earns ya..hehe)
- A pharmacist has only 3.4 minutes to check one prescriptions ( there's seriously too short of time as our two hours exam onli have two presriptions!!)
- Many pharmacists dont have the proper lunch time due to the presription bulks.( most of the pharmacists have only half an hour break.)
But all these does not stop my passion for pharmacy!! hopefully i can keep this passion ongoing..hehe.
Dear Lord,
I am looking for a pharmacy assistant job now and i pray that the pharmacies which i have sent in resumes will contact me soon. I dont mind low pay as long as i got to learn more and enhance my experience in dispensing and counselling skills. Thank you Lord!! i am really eager to work in any pharmacies Lord!!
